Hirsutism
Hirsutism, defined as excessive male-pattern hair growth in a woman, is common (affects between 5 and 10 percent of women of reproductive age) and is associated with significant emotional distress and depression. It is usually an indication of an underlying endocrine disorder (most commonly polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS]).
